Horrible experience: 1) Tried to call the hotel many times from outside, calls never went through, seems like the service disconnected. 2) Approached FD to check in, too long of line, only 1 Agent to check guests in. She tried to be nice; she was overwhelmed and abrupt. Could not get full information when tried to ask for room night extension. 3) Request in person for a functional hair dryer for my wife, the one in room did not work. 2 hours later after the young man behind desk confirmed of its delivery right away. Right Away dryer never came in and ended up going out to meet friends for dinner. My wife caught cold and got sick due to damped hair. 4) Hallway was noisy all night long with people running around playing, shouting and slamming doors. could not get any sleep at all. Even after calling the desk a few times, no one bothered or cared to control it. Noise picked up the following day around 6am with doors slamming and noise in the hallway. 5) A/C either too cold or too hot, cannot be temperature adjusted to your desired level. horrible. 6) Shower faucet shaky and wobbly, it seems like it would come off the wall when turning it to use shower. 7) It is a little struggle to receive service from staff, either short staffed or high level of occupancy that they could not deliver service guest expectations. 8) During checking out to get a copy of the bill, FD agent never bothered to solicit for our feedback nor eluded. However, she was very engaging in conversation with other guests who may seemed to be related to staff members or whom she may knew. We were hoping to enjoy our stay in Big Bear as Southern Californians with my family and willing to stay for an additional night. However, the first night was completely discouraging.

Our recent stay at Holiday Inn Resort in Big Bear was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this hotel had serious issues. The most glaring problem was the complete lack of functional air conditioning. Our first room was stifling and smelled unpleasant, with carpets that felt dirty underfoot. We requested air conditioning, and were moved to a second room mainly because our sliding glass door didnt lock, only to discover it was equally hot and lacked AC. The lack of air conditioning made for an incredibly uncomfortable and sleepless night. To make matters worse, we woke up with numerous bug bites, presumably from the beds. When we complained again, the staff's only solution was to move us to a third room with a window we could open – an inadequate and frankly insulting suggestion. It was evident that our discomfort was not a priority. While the front desk attendant did offer a $100 credit, this was ultimately useless as the reservation was made on my husband's company card, meaning we were unable to benefit from it. This gesture felt like a hollow attempt to appease us without addressing the core issues. In summary, our stay at Holiday Inn the Lodge was a complete disaster. The combination of unbearable heat, unsanitary conditions, and dismissive staff made for an experience we would never repeat. We strongly advise others to avoid this hotel unless they enjoy sleepless nights, bug bites, and a complete disregard for guest comfort. We would have rather slept in our car.

Location is great, plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The rooms were nice, we got a free upgrade to one with a fireplace. The only thing missing is a hot tub/sauna situation that you can use in the winter. Also, the vending machines don't take credit cards, so you have to use the atm in the lobby, and even then half of them don't work. Drive to mountain is under 5 minutes, would stay here again.

Pros: The place has huge, and clean room with jacuzzi tub in the suite we got and gas fireplace. Sleeper sofa, 2 refrigerators and TVs. It is walking distance to the Village. It is close to all shopping and restaurants. It has a coffee maker and microwave. Parking is free. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have a restaurant in the building. Cons: Outdated carpet, furnitures, uncomfortable hard bed, no toilet paper in the bathroom (but we brought our own thankfully). The bathroom is small. No mirror outside the bathroom. Pool and jacuzzi outside is close for the season (but it's okay we have the jacuzzi tub in the room).

A Craftsman Style Resort, located on the edge of Big Bear Lake Village. You are greeted by a welcoming lobby, fresh pine scent and hot coffee/tea all day. Easy check in process, with different entrances throughout the hotel with easy guest room access.
