Our first time in Big Bear, and this was our first stop on Valentines Day. We went for an early dinner and were stopped because we didn’t have a reservation. I checked their website and social media ahead of our visit and saw absolutely no where that said they take reservations. We had to wait a moment but they were kind enough to squeeze us in even though they were fully booked. The service and view were wonderful. Just make sure to call ahead if you are planning a visit during a busy time!

Our family enjoyed the time spent together at the pine, delicious food, salad and seafood. I wish I had the appetite to try the steak. Maybe next time.

This may be a later review, however I went here during Christmas Eve of December 2023. At the time they had a smaller menu to choose from due to it being a holiday but despite that, the food was absolutely superb. My brother got the platter that contained meat from elk, boar, bison, as well as (I forgot the name of the other deer). Another selling point of eating here was the view of the lake. Absolutely beautiful and I’d recommend to sit by a window to enjoy the full experience. The staff is friendly and very attentive towards their customers. The food wasn’t dry and had excellent lipids to create a delicious juicy meal. If you’re a fan of steak then I’d definitely recommend this place.

I ordered French onion soup and coffee. I got too salty and cold soup in the dirty bowl. The bread in the soup is soft, not toasted or crouton-like as it should be. Sorry, I don’t like this. Excuse me??? Firstly, we were sitting outside and there wasn't even salt on the tables, we asked for napkins for the kids and you even took a long time to bring them. The photo shows how sloppy the soup plate looks. Secondly, we have a payment transaction. Do you want to prove your words in court, especially your accusation that we didn't pay and left with free food? What a disgusting lie and disrespect for your customers, you should be ashamed, you brought out these dishes, this is the result of your cooks, I left a review, a well-deserved review. After your rude response I do not recommend your place!

This restaurant is in a good location with lake view. The atmosphere is nice. The owners stand at the door like police and rule everything and I felt they were not that nice and welcoming, they asked me snd my husband to leave until the rest of us arrive to be seated at the table. I found this rude. However, the waiters were very nice and friendly. There was too long delays in bringing every single thing to us. When we arrived as a group of 12 they hold the table for us which was nice and the waiters were friendly but the kids food and appetizers were not given to us for at least 30-40 minutes sitting at the table starving. We requested them “””several times”””. Finally they brought them. The main courses were good except for my food. I ordered ravioli with pesto sauce and I can swear they gave me Costco’s product. I didn’t even touch it. My friends’ food were from ok to good. The boar’s meat smelled pretty bad and apparently it’s normal for that type of meat?! Well I won’t give them mire than 3 stars. 1 star for restaurant location, 1 star for holding the table when we were late, 1 star for friendly waiters and food together. Would I recommend them? Well there are not do many options for not casual restaurants in big bear and you may need to give this place a try anyways. Otherwise, you have yo go to casual restaurants which we didn’t want to. All this said, we spent about $1300 for 12 people including kids and they didn’t try to make our dinner time enjoyable or memorable. Bottom line, don’t expect Orange County quality food and service there.
