A Hidden Gem in Lake Tahoe – Truly Unforgettable! We recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Desolation in Lake Tahoe, and we couldn’t have been more impressed. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this hotel is something special. It’s incredibly well-organized, with a smooth check-in process and attentive staff who made us feel welcome right away. The hotel itself is super modern, yet tastefully designed to blend into the natural beauty of the area. Every detail feels thoughtful, from the sleek architecture to the cozy, luxurious interiors. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating a space that’s both stylish and comfortable. One of the highlights of our stay was the hot tub—it’s absolutely amazing! Spotlessly clean, perfectly maintained, and positioned to offer beautiful views while you soak. The swimming pool was another standout: spacious, refreshing, and a great place to relax after a day of exploring the area. We genuinely loved everything about this hotel—from the modern amenities to the peaceful ambiance. Whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or just a change of scenery, Hotel Desolation delivers on every front. We’re already looking forward to our next stay. Desolation Hotel is a wonderful, accommodating, special place to stay. Close walking distance to the Heavenly Village and surrounding casinos, extremely friendly and talented staff, and a perfect restaurant on site called Maggie’s. My friends and I always look forward to staying at DH! After a long day on the slopes we can’t wait to swim in the heated pool and jacuzzi. Maggie’s restaurant has impeccable flavors on their menu and the staff is welcoming and truly one of a kind. We absolutely love it here!!!

Desolation is now my favorite mini resort in Tahoe. Their design and attention to detail in the rooms is great. I stayed in an Alpine suite and it was perfect for me and would also be perfect for a couple to stay at. The beds were comfy and nice, the fireplace was warm and modern, and the heated floors in the bathroom were amazing to have for this ski trip. But the outdoor soaking tubs were my favorite. Although the privacy is limited, once in the tub, no one can see you. The water is hot and it is peaceful, perfect for a chill and relaxing apres ski. I do wish they had a better way to reserve the sauna, but that was also a nice amenity for after the mountain. I highly recommend this hotel for a cozy and quaint getaway in South Lake Tahoe.

Such an amazing place to stay. They had baby gates for our toddler so we felt safe with her running around the apartment. The garage was very nice, the room super clean, and the staff was very friendly and professional. The restaurant was delicious and very convenient. The hotel is really close to heavenly. Can’t wait to stay again.

The location is perfect, central but in a quiet neighborhood. The Alpine Studio has all you need for a couple (and a dog).Arriving, we found a very fluffy dog bed, bowls as well as a nice cover on the couch so we could let our 8lb Maltese make herself at home. The outdoor heated (82F) pool was wonderful even in December. The front desk staff offered as friendly and efficient. If your budget allows for it, it is an excellent value.
