Beautiful location. The staff are legitimately a bunch of angels. They are SO kind, so sweet, and CHOOSE to make it THEIR GOAL to accommodate your every request. Rooms were VERY beautiful. Loved the design and rugged, historic, home feel. The housekeeping team were also excellent!! The only things for us during our recent stay that were drawbacks were: 1) We felt the choice of light switches in the room are not practical. I know, what a silly thing to review. But honestly, it was super frustrating not knowing what to do with the panel of switches at first. Especially when it’s night time and it’s dark (the switches are all black) and you can’t figure out which one you’re about to click 🤣 artistically cool, yes. Practical? Eh. 2) The Shower handle for where you control the Water temperature also came loose and out of the wall mid-shower! Haha. Wasn’t expecting that. It went back in easily, but it was definitely confusing putting it back in and not knowing which way it should be pointing. Overall, it’s beautiful and awesome for weddings and big groups!!

I love the location and atmosphere at Mattei's and was excited to check out the new spa and amenities. I visited the newly opened Lavender Barn Spa recently for a deep tissue massage. I was going as a special outing after recently having a baby, and I emailed the team ahead of time to ask if there was a space at the spa where I could pump while I was there. That message wasn't responded to, so when I spoke with the spa team on the phone I asked about this again and was assured that I would be able to use private space in the women's changing area. When I arrived on the day of my treatment I asked about this and the spa manager had no idea that I had made this request and kept telling me that no one had ever asked for this before. I was willing to be really flexible, but the entire time I was there the team made me feel like I was inconveniencing them by asking for space to pump. The changing area didn't have any outlets I could use, so they ended up putting me in their team office, and they said that people would be coming in and out of the office while I was in there pumping... It was the opposite of the relaxing day I had hoped for and I truly do hope that the next woman who visits and has this request receives kinder service! If they had been upfront with me in advance I would have planned differently, and I was bummed that the day ended up the way that it did.

Wow. WOW!!!! This was just the most magical stay. Started with being greeted by Sean the bellman. Honestly, he made the trip. His energy and love for his job showed in every interaction. Rainy day? No problem. He had an amazing excitement that was infectious. Helped us plan fun days, had great recommendations, and was always nearby to offer us a Hot Toddy!! The rooms are spectacular and the fire pits throughout the property make it romantic and cozy no matter the weather. We enjoyed drinks and dinner at the Tavern - the burger is divine! And the Matteis Tavern hot sauce we should have bought a case of. Ended every night with a cocktail by the fire. Make sure to go to the olive oil class or the property tour is your dates align! When the sad time came and checkout was upon us, Serenity and Austin were very helpful and got us on our way, ensuring we would definitely be coming back!! Great stay, lovely town, could walk everywhere, can’t wait to return.

We stayed at The Inn at Mattie’s Tavern for a two-night girls’ weekend and had a great experience overall. The rooms are spacious with incredibly comfortable beds, and the outdoor area is a highlight—the fire pit is perfect for making s’mores. The location is also ideal, with easy access to Los Olivos and its wineries. The manager’s warm welcome, complete with a hot toddy and property tour, added a special touch. The property also has a fun selection of courtesy vehicles for use. The only downsides were the spa being fully booked and unable to accommodate us, and the coffee shop and restaurant do not open for breakfast until 7am (6/6:30 would be preferred!). Overall, it’s a beautiful property with thoughtful details, and we’d happily stay again—just booking the spa in advance next time!

The auberge hotel is very beautiful but it was packed the entire time we were there and frankly the property didn’t feel like it could handle the amount of people. There were lines for coffee in the morning and drinks at night. A wedding basically took over the hotel while I stayed there which wasn’t the most pleasant as they were quite rowdy. The worst part was that my room had an adjoining door to another room. I could literally hear every word the guests in the other room said. When I asked to move rooms the hotel said they were completely full.
